New Ely, Minnesota trail opens
Ely, Minnesota got a new trail system last week at the Hidden Valley Recreation Area. The new system has six loops totaling nine miles and was designed by husband and wife team Dirt Candy Designs. The system includes a progressive skills loop, a jump line, and more.
Banff area trails close due to wildlife
Some mountain bike trails in Banff, Canada have been closed after elk have reportedly been charging trail users. The trails have seasonal closures in place during spring, but the closure area has since expanded to include other trails, according to the Rocky Mountain Outlook.
Durango Mesa trails may open this fall
The Durango Mesa trails have been a vision for some time now, but the new trails park may finally open later this year. Gaige Sippy, a Durango Mesa Park board of directors member told the Durango Herald the contractors are expected to finish five trails by the fall, with some of them opening in August. The total mileage then would be close to 6.5 miles.
Mammoth Mountain announces June 30 opening date
Mammoth Mountain in California has been digging themselves out of heavy snow since winter ended. When we asked about their bike park opening for an article in May, the resort didn’t have an answer. Now we know the park will open at the end of June, according to an Instagram post from Mammoth.
Purgatory Resort opens to mountain bikers ahead of race
Purgatory Bike park in Durango, Colorado opens today with trails suiting a variety of riders and the resort will host the Big Mountain Enduro July 8-9. The resort also has the Power Kids season pass, the only in North America that gives unlimited free skiing and riding to kids ages 12 and under.
