Mountain Biking Little Creek Mountain
#28 of 710 mountain bike trails in Utah
Main ride is a 9 mile loop. About 8 miles into loop T. Right is quickest way out left adds about 2 miles thru a very tech canyon and more stunts.
There's also a large freeride slickrock area east of the loop.
The loop is mainly riding slickrock and singletrack thru many different tech moves. Follow cairns. Less difficult than Gooseberry it has better flow and is an amazingly fun trail. For about 2 miles you'll ride very near a cliff in spots with awesome views towards Gooseberry Mesa and the Pine Valley Mountains. 6000', higher than Goose here you're in the trees a little and many stunt areas, play!

From Colorado City, AZ go west on 59 to State Street, 8 miles, which goes to Gooseberry Mesa. Go 1 street farther west and turn south. The road will turn east quickly. Then the road will branch south, take the right turn. Proceed south for 5 miles till you come to a 4 way junction. There's a ancient, overgrown corral on your left. Turn right. When you come to a T in the road head left. About 3 miles from corral to trailhead. Road gets worse at trailhead, park on slickrock. Trail is about 300 yards farther down the road thru trees on right.

This trail has a good mix of slick rock, packed dirt, & a few challenging obstacles to make the ride interesting. The cliff edge scenic views are awesome. Take lots of water during the hot days.
Thank |I loved this trail. We went counter clockwise on the North Loop. Lots of slick rock and fun obstacles. We just had a blast playing around on the rocks. Beautiful views of Zion's National Park.
Thank |Love this ride, slickrock, single track, views for ever, following trail markers and white dots a fun challange
Thank |Holy hell! What an awesome ride! We did the main loop to magic carpet ride back, just under 10mi and some incredible views with some of the most challenging stuff I've hit yet. This is not a ride for the balance challenged that's for sure.
Thank |Fantastic trail but bring along a gps with co-ordinates. A few idiot locals have gotten rid of route markers and cairns to keep riders out but that instead causes many riders to unknowingly ride off trail and into potentially sensitive areas. Idiots. Many archeologically sensitive sites, so ride smart. Other then that it's a complete blast to ride.
Thank |Awesome!!! way more flow than gooseberry mesa. the views aren't as good but they are still spectacular in their own
Thank |Great ride, compliments Gooseberry very well. Very similar with some larger patches of open slick rock that are a blast to explore. Be mindful of the archeological sites as many have been ruined. Bring a GPS. Many of the locals have been getting rid of the cairns to discourage riding there. Some sections are well marked and others are tough to navigate so a GPS will get you back. If your in the Zion area this is a must ride.
Thank |Rode as an OTE shop ride - recommended for the knowledgeable guide, and others to ride with.
Sensitive and delicate area, including petroglyphs and other anthropology. Moves are under way to formalise the trail system, but it takes time.
Thank |While Gooseberry gets all the press, Little Creek Mesa is my favorite trail in the area. It's part Gooseberry but also has alot of sections that are twisty dirt singletracks and then there is PLENTY of exposure as well. This trail will never make it to the top of the list because it isn't the easiest to find, isn't the easiest to navigate and it's too sketchy to ride for 90% of the planet. Tood bad for those guys because this ride is truly EPIC!!
Thank |For much of this ride, I felt like Frodo navigating through Mordor. Slickrock as far as the eye can see, some marked with cairns, some not. Some skinny singletrack hugging cliffs with big exposure, some mellow cruising through the woods. If they ever develop and add signage to the whole mesa, this will be the next great biking destination, rivaling its neighbor across the valley - Gooseberry Mesa. You WILL get lost, you WILL have fun.
Thank |We didn't really know what to expect when we got to Little Creek a couple days ago. Heard you had to have good route finding skills. Well, that was true, but no one said anything about the sweetest, smoothest, flowiest slickrock ever! The trail is very well-built and there are flowy sections of cruising through the cedars between enormous slabs of slickrock with stunt opportunities everywhere ranging from insane to my-6-year-old-could-do-this. On the bigger sections of slickrock there seem to be cairns set up all over the place, or none at all so it can be tough to find. Someday there will be paint marks to guide the trail, but for now the route finding added to the experience, but also took quite a bit of time. Don't get stuck up there in the dark!
Thank |This trail is a blast, damn near as good as Gooseberry. I think it's a bit easier so great to start the trip. You'll follow cairns and they are somewhat hard to spot but the trails' flow is awesome. At about 8 miles into the loop the trail comes to a T left is longer and harder thru a tech wash, Right is shorter out. The views from the cliff are excellent. Built for mountain biking fun.
Thank |There is now a northern point trail not on the loop which has 2 different routes, on north and another south away from the point, also a fun trail. A big freeride playground is in the middle of the area.* Review edited 1/28/2012
There is great variety on this trail. It flows seamlessly between tight singletrack in the junipers and various slickrock playgrounds. The main routes are mostly intermediate with advanced stunts along the way and plenty of room to get creative when you hit the rocks. It's almost at 6,000', so i'ts comfortably cooler than St George/Hurricane. As of 9/09, the trails weren't well marked and it's very easy to get lost. In fact, most will have some difficulty even finding the trailhead (a high clearance vehicle is useful). Until the trail system is completed and signage improves, you're best going with a local--check with the Over the Edge Bike Shop in Hurricane.
