There’s nothing worse than showing up to a mountain bike trail that’s closed, or that’s under water. Some parks and clubs do a better job than others at publicizing up-to-date trail conditions and closures; that is if you can find the right Facebook page or website in the first place.
Singletracks members have been sharing trail conditions on the site since at least 2013, and we try to make it as easy as possible for anyone to add an unofficial report. Just head to the appropriate trail page on Singletracks and look for the trail conditions block, circled in the screen shots above. The most recent status is listed, along with how long it’s been since the last report. Click the update link to report on current conditions. Note: you’ll need to be logged in to your Singletracks account to add a report.
The reporting form pops up and allows you to select from a list of pre-set conditions like dry, wet, and overgrown. If none of those selections fit, or you want to add a little more detail, you can type a very brief report in the text box below.
One of the easiest ways to share trail conditions is to link your Singletracks account to Strava. Whenever you go on a ride, we’ll attempt to guess which trail you rode, and after the ride we’ll send you an email asking about the conditions there. Just click the link that best describes the conditions and you’re done.
The upshot to keeping trail conditions up to date on Singletracks is you’ll help other riders avoid wet trails and potential trail damage. Community service for the win!
