Freerider and Canadian mountain bike legend Jordie Lunn has passed away at the age of 36.
Pinkbike is reporting that Lunn was riding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with friends when an accident ended in a fatal head injury.
“Jordie lost his life doing exactly what he loved. Jordie had an incredible 20+ year career as a mountain biker. He will always be cherished for his heart and love that he gave to his family, friends, and fans as well as the incredible talent that he had on his bikes,” wrote Lunn’s family members in a statement.
Lunn was born in Parksville, BC and lived on Vancouver Island, BC. He grew up BMXing, switched to mountain bikes early on, and progressed quickly.
Although he competed in World Cup downhill races early on, he was most known for going huge at competitions like Darkfest, Crankworx, and Red Bull Rampage.
He starred in mountain bike films like Roam, The Collective, and more, but recently started developing his own ‘Rough AF’ freeride films, produced deep in the BC forest.
Lunn is survived by his family members and his legacy as a rider that pushed the limits of what’s possible on a mountain bike.
