The Montery County Herald posted an article about pro mountain bike racers that gives a little insight into what it’s like to live on your bike. Shonny Vanlandingham, Kelli Emmett and Lea Davison speak about how they became pro riders and what it’s like to “live the dream.”
I’m always interested to hear pro mountain bikers’ stories because I know it can’t all be glamorous singletrack trail riding (can it?). The article does mention some of the sucky parts of the job (like digging for sponsors and living with little disposable income) but overall it paints a pretty rosy picture of pro riding. Maybe it’s time for me to make a career switch 😉
