Obviously, fall in Colorado is an amazing time to ride and my favorite time of year to ride. Interestingly though, as some here well know, the best time to ride many trails on the Front Range is immediately after a summer storm and any good rain. While that is the bad time to ride in many other places, the loose scree firms up and gets a little tacky, and you can really let it rip. In Mongolia of course the winter is the worst time of year to ride because it is just so bloody cold. After snowmelt in the spring through mid-fall is all AMAZING. Beautiful sunshine day after day except for an occasional summer storm, great dirt and a good variety of dirt, wilderness for as far as the eye can see, and you have it all to yourself. Amazing. Ohhhhh, and no speed limit on the trails ... to bring up the crazy issue just created by the City of Colorado Springs.
Jeff, who the hell came up with this season idea? Calling BS on that right here, right now!
Hell, the only skis I have and will ever own bolt to the front of a Polaris, but that is another topic...
Can you say pilgrimage? Making a pilgrimage to good riding locations is only part of the winter thang. Might be cold however, I ride one of my five RSD's daily, year round.
Summer heat and humidity can be brutal in central Florida, so I enjoy annual visits to the PNW. I have an Oregon base near Portland and consider the Mt. Hood area my home away from home.
